  1. If I am studying remotely outside the USA this year, can I still apply?

Yes, fellowships are available for students studying both in-person, remotely, or at any of NYU’s global study away sites.

  2. As an undergraduate student, am I eligible to apply?

Yes, we have fellowships available for both undergraduate and graduate students. See the Fellowships page for the full list and requirements.

  3. If I am graduating this year, can I still apply?

Unfortunately, no. Our fellowships are open to only students graduating no sooner than May 2025. This is because all fellows will be asked to submit a paper and/or give a presentation for their research in Spring 2025.

  4. If I plan on spending a semester abroad next academic year, can I still apply?

Yes, students may still apply for our fellowships even if they are studying abroad.

  5. If my research requires more funding than the fellowships offer, can I still apply?

Yes! You can still apply for our fellowships even if your research requires more funding than we can offer. Please submit your full budget, and in your application proposal, state how you plan on acquiring the additional funding you need.

  6. Am I expected to submit any form of documentation of my research?

Yes, all fellows are required to present their research findings at Africa House in Spring 2025. Fellows who will be away from the NY campus at this time may be asked to submit a short research paper and/or give a virtual presentation.

  7. Can I apply to the Robert Holmes Travel Grant?
